East Kilbride 0 Queen’s Park 3
The Strollers opened their SPFL League campaign with a fine 3-0 win over East Kilbride last night at K-PARK.
Goals from Ewan MacPherson, Ali Miller and Ewan East in the first half were enough to give the Strollers all three points.
The game started evenly with both sides battling for dominance for the first five minutes. Queen’s then quickly took control of the game , pushing East Kilbride back into their own half.
In 12 minutes Queen’s took the lead. Brendan Sharpe was upended inside the East Kilbride box. The referee pointed to the penalty spot. Ewan MacPherson stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper. 1-0 to the Strollers.
Queen’s continued to control the game. Excellent play down the left by Ali Miller, Euan East and Brendan Sharpe were causing East Kilbride all sorts of problems. East Kilbride were limited to the occasional fast break.
In the 25th minute East Kilbride had their first shot on goal. Excellent play by their number 9 resulted is a shot which was cleared by Elliot Anderson in the Queen’s goal.
In the 31st minute Queen’s doubled their lead. From a free kick 20 yards out, Ali Miller fired an unstoppable shot in to the far corner of the net.
Six minutes later Queen’s added a third. Pressure on the East Kilbride defence resulted in a poor passback to their keeper. Euan East nipped in and chipped the ball over the advancing East Kilbride keeper into the empty net.

The second half was poor in comparison with the first. There were a lot of fouls and hold ups which prevented any flowing football.
In the 65th minute Queen’s made their first substitution. Dom McLaren and Ronan McLaughlin replaced by Luke McColl and Andy McLaughlin.
East Kilbride fought their way back into the game for a short spell but didn’t really threaten the Queen’s goal.
In the 71st minute Queen’s replaced Ewan MacPherson with Kieran Moore.
In the 80th minute Queen’s had their first shot on goal of the half. A shot by Brendan Sharpe 20 yards out narrowly missed the target.
Three minutes later Queen’s made their final substitutions of the night replacing Ali Miller and Euan East with Cammy Dickson and Aaron Mooney.
