First half goals from Andy McGlaughlin and Joseph Manderson secured a fifth League win in a row for the young Spiders and maintained their top of the table status.

Queen’s made the short journey to K-Park on Tuesday night to play Development League newcomers East Kilbride.  Queens were flying high with four wins in a row.  East Kilbride had won one and drawn one so far in their debut season.

East Kilbride started the game brightly pushing Queen’s back and dominating play.

In the 5th minute Queen’s took the lead.  David Green drove down the right and fired a superb cross into the EK box.  Andy McGlaughlin stepped onto the ball and fired a low shot past the keeper from six yards out.

In the 16th minute Joseph Manderson doubled Queen’s lead.  Joseph pounced on the ball 20 yard out and fired an early low shot past the outstretched hand of the East Kilbride keeper into the corner of the net.  A superb striker’s goal.

In the 36th minute Queen’s made their first substitution. David Green who got a knock was replaced by Declan Walsh.

Queen’s continued to dominate the game for the rest of the half but could not extend their lead.

Queen’s started the second half in control of the game.

They should have increased their lead in the 56th minute when a shot by Grant Brennan was spilled by the EK keeper. Joseph Manderson was quickest to react but placed his shot narrowly past the past.

In the 62nd minute East Kilbride had their first real attempt on goal. A long range shot from 20 yards which Michael White very comfortably held.

In the 65th minute Queen’s made their second substitution replacing James MacLennan with Ronan McGlaughlin.

In the 70th minute Lewis Magee had a great run down the right before cutting in and forcing the EK keeper into a fine save.

One minute later Queen’s made their final substitution of the evening, Grant Brennan off and Ali Miller on.

The injection of the substitutes added  a vigour to the midfield.  The ball was being moved crisper with move movement carving open the East Kilbride defence.

The final 15 minutes was an exhibition performance by the young Spiders.  The passing and movement was a delight to watch.  East Kilbride were reduced to spectators in this final phase of the game.
