Our penultimate game of the season sees Mark Roberts’ men make the short trip to Cumbernauld to take on old foes and title chasers Clyde. Queen’s head to Broadwood knowing that depending on the result at Balmoor, where Peterhead take on Stirling Albion, we could have a huge say in the destination of the title with The Bully Wee currently trailing The Blue Toon by four points with just six points left to play for. The Spiders will also be keen to make amends for a dismal second half against Annan which saw the unbeaten run end and Queen’s ship three goals at Hampden and finish the season as strong as possible.

Ahead of the derby clash the club media team spoke to the gaffer to get his thoughts.

Previewing the match Roberts said: “We’re very much looking forward to the game and Peterhead next weekend. We have a great, but challenging finish to the campaign which could see us have some say in the destination of the title. From my perspective I’d much rather have the games we have, than ties against sides who have nothing to play for.

“It goes without saying that we want to win every game we play, and Saturday will be no different. If the consequences of that on Saturday have a say in the destination of the title then so be it, but that’s not our focus. I’ve said regularly that it’s important we finish the season as strongly as possible and that remains our intention.

“We fully expect an extremely difficult match against a very strong and experience Clyde side who are on a great run of form just now. It’ll be a fiercely contested battle but one which we’re ready for.

“It’s important we look to put the disappointment of last week’s defeat to Annan behind us. Despite there not having been much between the sides, we failed to get the type of response I would have expected when we went a goal down and that set the tone for Annan to go on a score another couple.

“It’s important we now forget about that and focus on the task in hand on Saturday. Yes, Clyde are a very good side on a great run, but we have players within our squad that can cause them problems, if we go about things in the correct manner.

The gaffer hinted that changes will be made to the team which started against Annan last week but played his cards close to his chest commenting that he had still to make a final decision on his starting XI.
