Table toppers Edinburgh City are the visitors to Hampden on Saturday and will undoubtedly prove to be tough opposition for Mark Roberts’ injury hit Spiders side. With the gaffer looking to build on the point gained from last Saturday’s frustrating 2-2 draw against Albion Rovers, he was all too aware of the challenge that awaits his side when he spoke to the club media team on Friday.
Roberts said: “We know how tough a game Saturday will be, we’re up against a side that are top on merit and a side that I’ve said previously are the best in this league this season. We will need to be at our absolute best to give ourselves a chance and I think first and foremost we need to stop them.
“It’s well documented that we’re going through a rough spell just now and I believe everyone, not just the guys playing, but the entire squad and the coaching staff, need to be doing better.
“It’s vital that we don’t feel sorry for ourselves in our current situation though, we need to pick ourselves up and look forward.
On the squad front Roberts confirmed that he will be without Gerry McLauchlan, Kurtis Roberts and Ciaran Summers all as a result of injuries picked up last Saturday. Josh Peters is also likely to miss out due to flu. There was however some good news with Roberts confirming the return of both Jordan Hart and Scott Gibson, the latter of whom played an hour for the reserves on Tuesday night.
