Queen's head coach - Gardner Speirs

Gardner, 46, came through the youth ranks at St Mirren to tie down a first team place in midfield for seven seasons.
Loan spells followed at Dunfermline and Kilmarnock, and a stint at Hartlepool United. He played for his home town Airdrieonians and then East Stirling, before ending his playing career in the Juniors with Bathgate Thistle.
His coaching career started at Clyde in 1995, when he succeeded Alex Smith, and he held that post for three years.
He was appointed reserve and youth coach at Aberdeen, and was eventually promoted to No2 to Ebbe Skovdahl. When the Danish manager left in December 2002, Gardner was installed as Pittodrie caretaker, but Steve Paterson eventually got the job.
Gardner by then had his UEFA badges, and had built a solid reputation in coaching, and his next port of call was Ross County. He was heavily involved in setting up what has become a very successful youth structure at Victoria Park. And, when John Robertson departed County in October 2005, Gardner seemed the obvious choice for another caretaker role.
County enjoyed a successful season, challenging at the top before finishing an impressive third. But, despite that success defeated only three times in 21 League matches Gardner parted company with the Dingwall Club in April 2006.
He became assistant to Ian McCall at Partick Thistle in May 2007. And then Queen’s came calling.
