Welcome to the new QPTV service for Season 2007-2008.
Thanks to an extension of our trial period granted by The Scottish Football League and the rights holders, Transworld International we are delighted to be able to continue our service to Queen’s Park fans and other football lovers from all over the world for another season.
The new service will be brought to you by Brightcove.com and the facilities of ID.TV.
The club will receive 70% of any revenue generated by the site with the host company, Brightcove taking the other 30% for their hosting and transmission costs.
Once again QPTV can be accessed through the club website at www.queensparkfc.co.uk
Follow the Menu link to ‘GET QPTV’ or once you have registered etc, click on the direct link to the service - the QPTV photo at the right hand side of the Home Page.
Last year the club used a Subscription service for QPTV.This season, it will be a combination of ‘Free to View’ content and ‘Pay Per View’ for the matches and other Premium content.
To let everyone see and try out the new service we have made the 65 minute ‘Germany 2007’ programme available as ‘Free to View’, however, a short advert will appear before you view the video and you get a glimpse of Raymond Martin’s new girl, Andy McGlennan’s bare legs or The President trying to speak German!
The ‘Free’ content is encoded as a Flash Video Movie at 500kbs which is roughly the same quality as our subscription service, last season. The good news for our ‘Pay Per View’ customers is the match and premium content is encoded at 1400kbs which is virtually VHS quality and is very watchable, even at full screen mode!
The club will endeavour to cover as many matches at home and away as we can as long as facilities are made available to us, particularly at other club grounds. We aim to have the matches available online within 48 hours and this season ‘Slo-Mo’ replays have been added, by popular request, to at least every goal and to any other action points, if the editing time permits.
The ‘Pay for View’ content will be available either to ‘Rent’ or to ‘Buy’!!
When you ‘Rent’ a match, the game will be downloaded on to your PC and available for you to view both as it is downloaded and again to watch as often as you like, over a seven day period. This will be particularly good for people with slow or erratic broadband connections who can now download a match at their leisure and watch it at any time, without any stuttering, over the seven day period of the licence. (If you wish to watch the match on a second computer you will have to rent it again I’m afraid!)
If you decide to ‘Buy’ you can download the match or programme, watch it AND make a back-up copy of the Windows media file on a DVD-rom disc for your own use - if you have the facility to burn discs on your computer.
Whether you burn a disc or not for the video, the files can be kept on your hardrive for unlimited use on that particular PC or watched on up to FIVE other computers.
The ‘Free’ content is available to everyone with the ‘Flash Video Player’ on their computer and that also means most Apple Macs!
(Get this Free Player at www.adobe.com if it is not already installed on your computer and the video doesn’t play automatically when you try QPTV!)
The ‘Pay’ content will continue to be only available for computers with Windows Media Player, Version 11 as this, at present, is the only reasonable way of protecting the content with DRM (Digital Rights Media) licensing.
Frequently Asked Questions and other help getting QPTV will be on the club website under ‘GET QPTV’.
Any subscribers to the ‘old’ QPTV who signed up over the last two weeks will be receiving a refund of their subscription fee from the club in their Pay Pal accounts in the next few days.
Happy watching and please refer any technical enquiries direct to Brightcove by using the support form at http://studio.brightcove.com/support/request-support-form.cfm and any other questions regarding QPTV to info@queensparkfc.co.uk
