Maybe we’ve been spoiled in recent seasons, when we have always had something to look forward to on Saturday afternoons at this time of year. The play-offs might have had the nasty habit of ending in disappointment, but at least they prolonged the season and delayed the awful prospect of Saturday shopping trips.
As far as Queen’s are concerned, however, there has been little anticipation for much of this season. And while we could – mathematically – still have avoided being confirmed in 10th place with victory today and freak results for the remainder of the season, we all knew in our heart of hearts that wasn’t going to happen.
