Gardner looks for another good awayday

Our head coach Gardner Speirs has put pen to paper on a new contract deal that will keep him with Queen's Park until at least 2014. Club President Alan Hutchison said he was "delighted" to see Gardner commit himself to the club in this fashion. Gardner added that he was thrilled to be offered the chance to be part of what promised to be exciting times - on and off the park. More reaction from the manager appears in his match preview as he looks ahead to the big game with Peterhead.

Queen's celebrate more joy of Six

The new t-shirts on display in the social club before the game sported a message proclaiming the joy of six - to celebrate the Spiders run of six consecutive victories over their old rivals Clyde. What nobody could have realised at the time would be that Queen's would then go and demolish a decent Elgin side by six goals to nil. And just for good measure, Jamie Longworth grabbed himself four great goals. What a day.!!!!

Well ... that was a bit too much like hard work

space A Craig Smith double helped Queen's progress to the fourth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup and a visit to Premier League Motherwell on January 7. The Smith brace, along with Davie Murray's opener, earned the Spiders a 3-1 victory over Elgin in the 3rd round replay. But as usual with the Spiders, the scoreline doesn't tell the full story. Elgin had their keeper sent off when they were already 2-0 down ... and still made Queen's work right to the finish.
